What happened
NHAI has introduced Tamil Nadu’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system at Paranur Toll Plaza on the Tambaram–Tindivanam section of NH-179B. The launch was reported on 1 October 2026.

The system combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition with FASTag-based electronic toll collection. Its barrierless design allows vehicles to pass the collection point without the usual stop at a physical toll barrier.
